Apple iWork 08'

Today's product will go great with the new Mac OSX if you've purchased that already. This is something that I'm really interested in getting, and always have it in my hand but don't quite pick it up. As soon as I get my new Mac, this will be one of the first things I buy for it. Ladies and gentlemen, Apple's iWork '08.

Apple iWork '08 is a productivity suite designed by apple to compete with Microsoft Office. While MS office is a great product, I think that there are some things that it could do better. Apple iWork '08 fills in these gaps. Featuring three programs, all aptly named. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. After have experimented with these, you can tell that these are well designed products that work extraordinarily well.

Features of Apple iWork '08 include:

  • Apple's productivity suite for the Mac, iWork '08 includes three applications: Pages '08, Numbers '08, and Keynote '08
  • Powerful word processing and page layout with 140 Apple-designed templates with Pages
  • Effortlessly create stunning presentations, complete with Apple-designed themes, cinema-quality animations, and voiceover narration with Keynote
  • Create compelling spreadsheets for everything from family budgets and event planning to invoices and complex financial reports with Numbers
  • Import and export compatibility with Microsoft Office
There is so much more information available on this product. You just have to check out the page on Amazon to see it all! I've seen this in action and its incredible what they've managed to do. And you don't even have to worry about compatability, because it all works with MS Office as well! It's been 2 years since Apple has made upgrades, and you know that they were just waiting for Leopard to come out! But I'm sure that the wait was worth it!

All of this comes at a much cheaper price than MS Office. You can get this whole suite for just $69.99 and free shipping! The family pack is just $10 more! Of course Apple iWork '08 is available in my Astore!

Bose Quietcomfort 2 Headphones

Today's item is a little pricey, but its one that I own and I think it's great. You can see them over there on the left, the Bose® QuietComfort® 2 headphones. These babies are comfortable, thats for sure. And they sound incredible too. That's not quite detailed enough for here (even though it should be).

When do I use these headphones? I use them almost every day. Whenever I watch a movie on the laptop (on which I am blogging), and when I listen to music while I blog. They were made for use on airplanes, and let me tell you, they work great for that. When you turn them on, the drone of the engine practically disappears, and you can listen to your music, watch the movie, or sleep in peace. Turning them on brings you into your own little sanctuary.

My only gripe about them is that they can't be used unless they are turned on. They are extremely comfortable and should please audiophiles. Here is a list of features and technical details for the Bose® QuietComfort® 2 headphones:

  • Offers unmatched combination of noise reduction technology, audio performance and comfortable fit
  • Patented Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone technology fades background distractions
  • Now with enhanced audio performance and styling
  • Lightweight and comfortable; convenient fold-flat design
The Bose® QuietComfort® 2 headphones are a great investment for people who are truly into sound and willing to put some money into it. They are sold for $299 on Amazon. The over the ear version, the QuietComfort 3, is $349. Of course, both sets are available in my Astore!

Rowenta DZ5065 Focus Stainless-Steel 1700-Watt Iron, Pink

Here's a review on a product I actually own (to show I'm not a spammer!). Gonna try to do a few of these this week. Anyway, I found myself in a position where I needed to get an iron last year. Heading into the store, I knew nothing about irons, or how to find a good one. The guy in the store directed me towards the Rowenta Focus Pink iron.

Now I know what you're thinking. It's pink! What on earth would a guy be doing with a pink iron? Well, I was skeptical at first too, but when the salesman went through a list of the features of this iron, and why it was the best one, I put the color behind me and picked it up. What are these features, you ask? Would I leave you hanging?

The Rowenta Focus Pink iron features:

  • 1700-watt iron with stainless-steel nonstick soleplate
  • Electronic temperature control; LED lights; 10-ounce water tank
  • Burst, variable, and vertical steam; 3-way auto shutoff for safety
What do these mean though? Well the first point tells you that its a HOT iron, ready to press out any wrinkles you might have. It also will not stick to those tough to iron materials. The electronic temperature control is a knob that tells you when the iron is ready to go. (Green for go, Yellow for heating up, and Red for cooling down) The water tank is nice for delivering steam or spraying water. Speaking of steam, this thing produces a TON of it. It's great. The auto-shut off is good for not burning your place down :-).

Yes, the Rowenta Focus Pink is pink, but that helps donate to breast cancer research, and we're all for that. The iron is selling on Amazon for $79.99 with free shipping. I fully endorse this product, you will not be disappointed. Of course it is on sale in my Astore as well!

Leatherman New Wave

Haven't you always wanted a tool that would take care of every thing for you? Well, if that is what you're looking for, then the Leatherman New Wave is just what you're looking for.

I've always had the problem of never having a tool when I need it, especially when I'm repairing or working on things at the movie theatre. And I'm a huge gadget freak :-). The Leatherman New Wave should take care of both of these things! I can't wait to pick this thing up. (Wow, there are a lot of things I want to get, now I just need that $$) Anyway, this thing has so many tools included on it. Here are just a few of them:

  • 2 Pliers
  • 2 Wire Cuters
  • 2 Knives
  • Saw
  • Scissors
  • 2 Files
  • 2 Bit Drivers
  • Screwdriver
  • Wire Stripper
And so many more. You can even get a 42 bit assortment kit with it for a very low price. This tool has been competing with the Swiss army knife, and while that is a great tool, I believe that this one is much more useful. Made of stainless steel, it also includes a nylon sheath for easy storage. For safety, it has all locking tools.

This is such a great tool. This along with the Space Pens and the Moleskine Notebooks are in my cart right now, waiting to be purchased. The Leatherman New Wave tool is on sale through Amazon for $68, and you can get both the Leatherman New Wave and the bit assortment kit for about $84. A really great deal, in my opinion! Of course, it is on sale in my Astore!

The previously mentioned things in my cart will be purchased as soon as I get paid! Of course you can help out ;-) through my Astore, and get yourself some great things while you're at it! Hope you enjoy your leatherman, be sure to let me know how it is!

Elgato EyeTV Hybrid

Have you ever been looking for a solution that will let you watch TV on your Mac? How about playing video games on your Mac? Well, this featured product will allow you to do just that, and more. It's the EyeTV Hybrid, made by Elgato!

There are so many features built into the EyeTV Hybrid. You can watch over the air digital TV, and get analog and digital TV from a cable connection. You can record HOURS of TV onto your computer using the award winning EyeTV software, and edit out unwanted content, like commercials :-). These clips and shows can be exported to your iPod for easy viewing. But that's just some of the features available to this product. Here's some more stuff, from the Amazon Website:

  • Watch analog as well as free over-the-air digital TV on your Mac.
  • Browse EyeTV menus in Full Screen mode.
  • Record hours of your favorite TV shows directly on your hard drive and edit out unwanted content.
  • Find TV shows using the built-in program guide (USA only).
  • Export clips and entire episodes to your video-capable iPod.
  • Connect game consoles and enjoy virtually no latency game play.
I've always wanted to hook up a system to my computer, and the EyeTV Hybrid will allow me to do just that. Having that and picking up a nice HDTV antenna, and I can have all the great things made for TV on my Mac! I'm sure that these would look great on my Apple Cinema Display. And, as an added bonus, if you've got one of the higher end Mac systems (like I hope to soon), you can watch TV in 720p or 1080i! They are not the best around, but it's really close to that! And it's on your computer, so you won't need a TV!

Another great thing about this is that it's so small, the size of a USB stick. That means it's unobtrusive and won't clutter up your desk!

Here's a great review from over at Amazon, apparently its better than sliced bread:

I cannot rave enough about the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid! I use it with my iMac and a very inexpensive table-top HD antenna (Philips MANT510) to watch, record, and convert (to iPod and iPhone) my favorite OTA HDTV (in crystal clear, beautiful HD!) and basic cable shows. I get better picture quality from this setup than I do with HD cable and my HDTV! It saves me money (no need to pay for TV shows from iTMS), and it is so easy to use! I highly recommend this product to anyone (especially college students or others who live in tight spaces where having a TV and a computer poses problems)! Not only that, you don't need to buy an HDTV if you already have an iMac! You can even hook up an HD set-top cable box to the Hybrid (I know their web site says you can't, but I have done it - the picture isn't actually HD for that particular setup, but you still get the content, which would still be helpful for those with an iMac but not enough money for an HDTV)! You can also edit commercials out with the EyeTV 2 software. It's great! Seriously, save your money, forget TiVo and iTMS, and get this! You'll never regret it!

The EyeTV Hybrid sells for $137.99 on Amazon. A great deal to start receiving free HD programming onto your Mac! Of course, it is also on sale at my Astore!

Transformers: HD-DVD

The first product feature for today is the Transformers: HD-DVD. I got really excited about this after reading about it on Film School Rejects. Having recently just got my own HD-DVD player for Xbox 360, I think this would be a good addition to my collection! I'm not gonig to get into the whole format war thing (don't really know what is better). Anyway, this two disc collectors set has a ton of features on it.

Some of these features include:

            • 100% High Definition (except PiP)
            • 1080p resolution
            • 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound
            • Heads up display allowing multiple views of the film (schematics, etc.)
            • A special feature allowing you view all components of the robots in the film. (For example, all 10,000+ components to Optimus Prime)
            • "The Story Sparks" Insight into the Transformers Lore.
            • Tons of web enabled features such as "Intelligence view", which shrinks the screen but allows you to track the action on the globe, trivia, and a Transformers widget.
All that and of course a lot more are included on the Transformers: HD-DVD. If that's not enough to make you want to go out and grab it....

Don't forget that Transformers was awesome when you saw it in theatres, and even more awesome when you went out to go see it again in IMAX. I don't think all of the features from the IMAX film made it here, but this is a pretty awesome pickup anyway!

Transformers: HD-DVDis selling for $27.95 on Amazon with free shipping. That is a savings of 30% off the list price! Of course it is available for purchase through my Astore. Actually, there are 3 various editions there!

  • Improved Mail - More features, and personalized stationary.

Moleskine Notebooks

The Moleskine Notebookswill be the first of a couple product reviews I'm going to do today. This item goes great with the first product featured on this blog, the Space Pen. Moleskine notebooks is a high quality notebook with its origins in small French bookstores. Famous European writers, thinkers, and artists have used this notebook for centuries to jot down their notes, designs and ideas. A few of these include Van Gogh, Hemingway, and Picasso. That being said, I believe this is the another amazing tool for any blogger or writer.

The Moleskine Notebooks date back two centuries, when small French bookbinders would provide these notebooks for stationary shops visited by the avant-garde. It was extremely popular, as its usage by such famous people suggests. However, by the late 20th century, its production had nearly stopped. In 1986, the last French bookstore carrying these notebooks closed its doors. However, in 1998, a Milanese publisher brought the Moleskine Notebooksback. It once again began spreading around the world.

What a great history! but what about it makes it so great as a notebook? There are plenty of notebooks out there, so something has to make this one stand out! Here are some of the reasons:

  • Lots of pages (192-240) per notebook.
  • Authentic "MoleSkine" Oil Cloth Bound cover (Rigid or Soft)
  • Acid Free paper.
  • An elastic closure and an expandable inner note holder made of cardboard and oilcloth and a removable card with the moleskine history.
  • Plenty of sizes and various paper types for all sorts of needs, from composing music, creating designs, or writing.
Moleskine Notebooks can be found on Amazon from $6-$20, depending on the size that you get. Imported from Italy, you save more if you purchase in quantity. All of the various types are available in my AStore! I'm going to be purchasing both this and the Space Pensoon, so you know that they're great!

You can find out more about them also at the Moleskine website.
